Recap of Jamal and D-Major’s Relationship

On this past weeks episode of Empire, Jamal Lyon has a reunion of sorts. His producer and fuck buddy, D Major aka Derrick comes through.  But Jamal, now clean and sober, decides to break things off.  He’s found a new producer to work with, and also no longer wants to continue in a sexual relationship with Derrick. Derrick is on the DL and Jamal has also realised he was enabling his drug habit.

But not long after things seemingly end with Derrick, Jamal gets a visit from Philip. You may remember, Philip is the military vet who helped Jamal deal with his PTSD. He ran a support group for PTSD victims and was never intimidated by Jamal’s fame.

They’ve shared a special platonic bond for quite some time. Philip had been a positive force for Jamal as he recovered emotionally from his gunshot wound.

It’s been a while since they’ve seen each other. And they say ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder.’ And fonder it grew. Philip finally made a move. He even second guessed himself. “Maybe I should go,” he said after touching Jamal’s face. Not to miss out at this chance of love, Jamal gripped his wrist and assured him, “Maybe you should…stay.

But according to next weeks preview, a night of making love turns into a morning of turmoil. D-Major catches Jamal and Philip semi nude. Will the two men fight over Jamal? Are Jamal and D-Major Over On Empire? Start Video at 0:57
